Every Iron Maiden Album Opening Song Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Satellite 15… The Final Frontier - The Final Frontier

Ever wanted to see what would happen if Iron Maiden went to space? Well wonder no more!

In 2010, the band released The Final Frontier, complete with a hideous alien version of Eddie on its front cover. The record opens with Satellite 15… The Final Frontier, a song about a man floating through the vastness of the cosmos, contemplating his own life in the process.

Sounds like a very Maiden subject matter.

The song undergoes several structure changes across its 8:40 runtime, which work well, but the lyrical content of a man asking to speak to his family one last time is hammed up beyond belief and feels massively played out.

At least the setting of the song was unique and fans weren't forced to sit through the same boring music for nearly nine minutes.
