Every Lana Del Rey Album Ranked Worst To Best
7. Lust For Life
In many ways, Lust For Life is Lana Del Rey's most contemporary and commercial record, featuring guest spots from both The Weeknd and A$AP Rocky whilst leaning into a more straightforward pop sound than ever before.
Unfortunately, this is very much the album's problem. Del Rey rarely has featured artists in her work, and particularly in regards to her two-track team-up with Rocky it's easy to see why - no one can really gel with her sound. Rocky and The Weeknd are both great in their own right, but their styles don't mesh with Del Rey's at all.
The album is also far too long at a hyperextended 71 minutes, though this is only an issue in the overwrought second half. The first act of the album features the brilliant tone-setter Love and the hipster anthem Coachella - Woodstock in My Mind, both of which are surely two of her best songs.
Too long for its own good and dampened by unnecessary guest spots, Lust For Life is a dreamy hip-hop record bursting with enticing Del Rey trademarks, but too many flaws for it to be seen as one of her best efforts.
