Every Lana Del Rey Album Ranked Worst To Best
6. Chemtrails Over The Country Club
The first of Del Rey's two 2021 offerings, Chemtrails Over The Country Club takes a lot of creative inspiration from its masterful predecessor Norman F*cking Rockwell, but doesn't quite reach its level where the music or experimentation is concerned.
But just because it lacks the spark of what came before doesn't make it a bad album. In fact, it's a genuine stroke of brilliance as only Del Rey could conjure, with various sounds, recurring motifs and a sense of scope that all work to create a listening experience that is as enveloping as it is quietly amusing and rewarding.
With clever links to her earlier records and pop culture references that beg for a re-listen, Chemtrails Over The Country Club may suffer from some brief musical lulls, but its scope, ambition and the genuine confidence of Del Rey's vocals make it a great record destined to become a classic.
It might not be her most urgent project, but it's definitely one of her most enjoyable.
