Every Nickelback Album Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Curb

It seems almost impossible to consider the fact that Nickelback’s debut record is now 24 years old.

Released in 1996, ‘Curb’ was the band’s first full-length debut record and considering the successful career it spawned, the critical response was initially poor. Rolling Stone magazine awarded the album just 1.5 stars and said that the band’s ‘generic’ sound would get them nowhere, proving once and for all that music journalists can’t predict the future.

When the record was re-released in 2002, MusicOMH said that the album was ‘monochromatic and derivative’, and also said that the band’s ‘Silver Side Up’ success would only be momentary before Nickelback faded out of the limelight (see previous comment about music journalists and predictions).

Despite its damning reviews, ‘Curb’ would go on to earn gold certification in Canada and silver certification in the UK following its 2002 re-release. Key songs from this album included ‘Detangler’, ‘Where?’, ‘Falls Back On’ and the album's only single, ‘Fly’.
