Every Pearl Jam Album Opening Song Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Go - Vs.

Go, the opening song from the band's second album, Vs., does exactly what it says on the tin - it goes and it goes hard.

The album hit shelves in 1993 and immediately flew straight off them, setting the record at the time for most copies sold during opening week. It topped the charts for five weeks and went seven-times platinum, thanks in part to great tracks like Go.

In this song, you can find all the elements that made Pearl Jam such a standout '90s band. There's the fast-paced guitar-driven stylings of their grunge contemporaries, but there's also a clear attention to melody that was missing from other acts on the scene. Vedder's voice might have been gravelly and gruff, but that didn't mean he couldn't sing properly.

Go is just over three minutes of high-octane action with guitar solos that will turn your eyes inside out and a bassline so strong your grandkids will be hearing it in their dreams. In short, it's pretty damn good.
