4. My Melancholy Blues - News Of The World

Freddie Mercury wasn't just an incredible rock frontman; he was capable of resurrecting older forms of music and making you fall in love with them all over again.

Case in point, My Melancholy Blues from the album News of the World.

A lounge jazz number with Mercury on vocals and piano, the star pours out his heart after an unsuccessful night on the town, lamenting his unluckiness in love in a beautiful falsetto.

Mercury's command over his extraordinary pipes defies belief, as he effortlessly switches between soft and powerful, depending on the moment. John Deacon and Roger Taylor are the perfect rhythm section, effortlessly gliding the track along, all whilst Brian May sits on the sidelines, sighing heavily.

It's not flashy, but My Melancholy Blues is, ironically, a completely and utter delight.
