GRAMMY Awards 2013: Preview And Predictions
The Grammy Awards are next up in the round of award shows, coming this Sunday, February 10th, and the music industry is ready to crown some new kings and queens of music for the past year. We will preview some of the bigger categories and performances before the big night.
Here is what we are expecting from this weekend:
Performances
The Black Keys - who are nominated for 5 Grammys
Justin Timberlake - who's new song Suit and Tie just debuted and is blowing up the radio right now
Alicia Keys - the singer who just performed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl and is currently "on fire"
Maroon 5 - with Adam Levine's solo career and the band's long standing presence in pop culture
Mumford & Sons - the English folk band will be bringing some mandolin riffs and banjo infused love songs to the stage
Rihanna - Isn't nominated for any Grammys this year, but she will most likely be shining bright like a diamond on stage performing
Sting - A surprising performer this year, but a past Grammy winner and old time favorite will be more than welcome on stage
Elton John, and Ed Sheeran - Probably the most anticipated performance of the night. Sheeran's song A-Team is receiving current acclaim and Elton John is the ultimate performer and collaborator, so performance will be a must-see

Album of the Year
Mumford & Sons - Babel: Although only being released in September, this folk-rock album has shot to the top of the charts (only second to Taylor Swift). Babel is sure to be a real contender this year and is also nominated in the BRIT awards across the pond.
Frank Ocean - Channel Orange: Mr. Ocean's album truly does channel an orange mood. An introspective album that is driven by R&B beats and swelling synths all about brings Ocean to be a fresh face and a hopeful this year in the runnings.
Fun. - Some Nights: After 2 huge hits this past year and a hugely successful tour, Fun. may have an easy time racking up this award and the 5 others they are nominated for.
The Black Keys - El Camino: The 7th album from the commercial theme song hogging indie-rockers is in it's rightful place as a nominee. I'm hoping for a win for these gentlemen.
Jack White - Blunderbuss: The front half of The White Stripes has finally released a solo album. This album takes you on a journey, through acoustic ballads, string arrangements and classic Stripes riffs, it is deserving after debuting on the Billboard charts at #1.
