Iron Maiden: EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
13. Killers
The bottom three Iron Maiden albums almost fall into place without much debate, but it’s in this entry spot that it begins to feel difficult putting such good albums so low on the list. The band’s second outing, released in 1981, was a huge stepping stone towards international acclaim the band enjoys today.
Iron Maiden were a very different beast forty years ago to what they are today. In 10 songs, Killers features two instrumentals, the shortest and second shortest songs in their entire back catalogue, and just two tracks stretching longer than five minutes. It may be a different Maiden, but it’s a very good Maiden
Bruce Dickinson was still a year away from joining the band, but Paul Di’Anno served his time admirably as the frontman, fitting the harder, grungier feel to their early work.
In terms of longevity in the band’s live shows, Killers hasn’t held up as well as most, with Wrathchild alone surviving to be played with the full compliment of six the band has been made up of since 2000. It’s a great album, but Maiden just kept getting better and better.
