Iron Maiden: EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
12. Fear Of The Dark
Two years after the underwhelming No Prayer For The Dying, the band released their ninth studio album, Fear of the Dark. With a similar style to their previous release, and just as far removed from the likes of Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son, Fear of the Dark saw an improvement from 1990, but still left a lot to be desired.
Opening with the fast paced, almost thrash style Be Quick or Be Dead, the album immediately separated itself from No Prayer For The Dying, and continued its strong start with From Here to Eternity, and Afraid to Shoot Strangers.
However, between track three and the final song on the album, the incredible Fear of the Dark that is still to this day one of the best the band has ever produced, little stands out. Instead there are eight songs that, compared to the rest of Maiden's back catalogue, are below average.
Wasting Love offers something slightly different, as one of the band's few ballads over the last forty years, but overall there are precious few tracks on this album that can be classed as some of their strongest.
