Iron Maiden: EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
8. The Final Frontier
Coming in 2010, with a title as suggestive as this, many expected The Final Frontier to be Iron Maiden's final studio album. It was getting longer and longer between releases, and Steve Harris had once stated his desire to reach 15 albums with the band, but ultimately their 15th outing was far from the end of the road for the band.
The Final Frontier is a complex album, and one of the most technically impressive, as the band flexes multiple muscles. While still able to bring a story of war with Mother of Mercy, Dickinson also tells of the experience of flying around the world in Coming Home. Then there are the two bonafide epics in The Talisman, and the haunting, chilling When the Wild Wind Blows.
As with a couple of Maiden's albums, the quality drops somewhat in the middle, with the likes of Isle of Avalon and Starblind unable to match the strong beginning of the titular track and El Dorado, and the final masterpiece.
Overall, the album was incredibly ambitious, and though not every track was able to leave a lasting impression, the ones that did more than made up for it.
