Iron Maiden: EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best

7. The Book Of Souls

In 2015, 35 years after their first album and with the six members in their late fifties or even early sixties, Iron Maiden had no right to be as good as they were. Almost any other band's quality would have declined after nearly four decades, yet with The Book of Souls, the band were able to put out a simply stunning album.

Though not quite a concept album, the outing focuses on many of the same themes and ideas, before the simply stunning Empire of the Clouds closes out the mammoth album. There is truly nothing else like this track in music, it's almost like the band were able to put across an entire novel in 18 minutes.

The Book of Souls certainly had enough material to be spread over two albums, yet the band decided to keep the 11 stunning tracks, totaling over 90 minutes, together. The five year wait was more than worth it.

Without question however, the most impressive aspect of The Book of Souls is Bruce Dickinson. The first album since the singer recovered from having two cancerous tumours removed from his tongue, it's almost incomprehensible that he is still able to sound as solid as before. Truly an inspiration.
