3. On A Sunday
It is beyond hard to pick the most essential tracks off of Clarity. Clarity is one of the most influential albums of this genre and many bands have been shamelessly ripping it off for many years now. From start to finish the album is packed with unforgettable and unique tracks end to end. On a Sunday is a mid tempo track that does a great job of summing up the album as a whole if you will. This track manages to combine so many different elements of the album's sound while simultaneously showcasing what this band is truly capable. When you listen to this track there's no mistake about it...this could only be Jimmy Eat World. Immediately the opening xylophone melody sucks you in and if you're not careful it will get stuck in your head all day. When you get to the verse you are completely along for the ride. If you've never listened to Jimmy Eat World before this is one song that is an amazing display of how well the band uses dynamics. The band incorporates quite a few different instruments in this song and do so seamlessly. When it comes to songs that showcase just how capable Jimmy Eat World is at showing off how diverse their signature sound can be, no song does it better than this one.
