2. The Sweetness
The Sweetness is without a doubt one of Jimmy Eat World's most popular songs. After their song "The Middle" became a smash hit this was the next song released as a single off of their album "Bleed American." It may come as a surprise to some people that this song was written years before "Bleed American" and was originally intended to be released on the "Clarity" album. For whatever reason the song didn't end up making the cut but the demo did circulate for a while and the band was hounded by fans about this song for years. After the fans pretty much demanded it the band recorded a new version which appeared on their "Bleed American" album and what a great choice that proved to be. By the time Jimmy Eat World released the music video this song was everywhere and it continues to be popular to this day. Regardless of popularity this song manages to showcase the band at their absolute finest. Dynamics is the word and Jimmy Eat World show why they are the masters of dynamics once again in this song. With an amazing quiet/loud/quiet/loud approach the band manages to craft what is still one of their most unique and catchy songs to date. Very rarely is catchy pop music paired with substance so well. The amazing vocal melody in this song is delivered with so much heart you can't help but feel it no matter who you are. Not only is this one of Jimmy Eat World's most successful songs to date but it is without a doubt one of their best.
