Jimmy Eat World: 5 Essential Tracks

1. Lucky Denver Mint

If you've never been introduced to the signature sound of Jimmy Eat World this is a great place to start. Dynamic, ridiculously catchy and extremely creative this song is beyond essential to the Jimmy Eat World discography. Although this song was released as a single it really didn't see too much commercial success which doesn't matter at all when you consider how damn good this song truly is. This song pretty much single handedly inspired an entire generation of drummers in this genre to pick up the sticks and show the world what they can do. Lucky Denver Mint showcases the uniqueness of Jimmy Eat World in both its best and most successful form. The song showcases just how well Jimmy Eat World is at crafting anthems that anyone can relate to and Jim Adkins' voice is completely hypnotizing on this track. Perhaps one of the most important aspects of this track is the double tracked snare drum outro. That outro has driven many drummers who have attempted to duplicate it completely crazy before they figured out that it was double tracked. Many bands such as Blink 182 and The Startling Line have shamelessly duplicated the drum outro in songs of their own as a tribute to how much they loved the idea. Lucky Denver Mint is without a doubt an essential track because it manages to show how Jimmy Eat World's sound can be accessible, creative, influential and completely unique. I have to state once again that narrowing essential Jimmy Eat World tracks to the low number of 5 was damn near impossible. Without a doubt there are sure to be many who disagree with my choices but keep in mind that these 5 are only 5 of many essential tracks. Feel free to comment below with any songs you feel should have made the list. Thanks for reading!
