Kanye West: 10 Best Songs You Haven't Heard

2. Addiction

This insatiable guitar lick guides us through the world of debauchery that Kanye describes and indulges. The song is the best kind of hypnotic, with a perfect balance between relaxation and anxiety.

The guitar is from the Etta James's sorrowful track ‘My Funny Valentine’, the guitar is sped up to give it that hypnotic, frantic feel. Also, the pitched up backing vocal lyric ‘you make me smile with my heart’ is taken from the same Etta James track, being scattered through ‘Addiction’. Late Registration was one of most ambitious hip hop records ever produced, and 'Addiction' is a symbol of that ambition.
