Kanye West: Every Album Ranked From Worst To Best
11. Cruel Summer
The full title for this album is Kanye West Presents Good Music Cruel Summer, and the emphasis on the term Presents is abundantly clear when listening to it. Kanye takes a backseat to the other notable members of Good Music such as Big Sean and Pusha T, making the album feel like less of a Kanye record than perhaps any other on this list.
Regardless, the highlight of this album is West himself; specifically, the production. The music is tailored more to the styles of the other rappers but is nonetheless very consistent with Kanye's excellent production across his career. It is certainly not on par with his solo albums but it does its job well here.
The issue with this is that there are so many different performers that the production has to accommodate for making the changes from rap to R&B and more. The album feels more like a compilation or mixtape than an album which justifies its low placement on the list.
