Katy Perry: 10 Things We've Learnt From The Queen Of Pop

1. It€™s Okay To Be Different

Katy Perry openly admits that she has weird elements to her personality. However, she stresses that this is not a negative thing but that it makes her who she is. She says that she €˜came from a lot of intolerance and prejudice, which aren't necessarily healthy to evolve as a human€™ and that this has spurred her on to spread the message of acceptance to her fans. The message that it€™s okay to be different and that you should be happy to be yourself features heavily in her song writing. The song Firework teaches us that we should embrace our individuality and €˜ignite the light, and let it shine€™. Perry has stated that Firework is her favourite song to perform as it€™s the one she feels has the most important message to give her fans. The video for Firework advocates that you are special no matter who you are, what disabilities you may have, what shape or colour you are or who you love. This message is perhaps her most relevant as we are all guilty of forgetting how special our individuality is from time to time and Katy Perry reminds us of this as well as teaching us not to forget it or to ever let anyone make us think otherwise.
