4. 'The Fame' (2009)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Abk1jAONjw Whilst still a better-than-average pop album, there's no denying that in the collection of Lady Gaga records, debut album 'The Fame' remains the weakest of the bunch. Kicking off Gaga's reign over American and European radio with 'Just Dance', a party anthem with an electropop pulse that signified the end of the indie movement in the mid-2000's. Fortunately a lot of the songs of 'The Fame' are just as strong and enjoyable - follow-up single 'Poker Face' is a dance-pop delight that would become the template for many of Gaga's songs for years to come while album cuts like the stellar urban-pop 'Starstruck', dramatic strut-ballad 'Paparazzi', and piano ballad 'Brown Eyes' are of note. Unfortunately a lot of filler towards the back end of the album, such as the unnecessary 'Disco Heaven', stops the album short of greatness and leaves a lot of the songs sounding the same, a shame when considering the great start the album had.
