Limp Bizkit: The Rise & Fall In 10 Songs

7. Take A Look Around

RISE

Being chosen as the band to lead the marketing campaign for the release of the 2000 Action movie, Mission Impossible 2, Limp Bizkit had made it, and Take A Look Around borrowing the main riff from the iconic theme song to Mission Impossible TV series proves that they wanted to fit in with the zeitgeist.

Producing a featured single for a Blockbuster is one thing, but surpassing Metallica, another band involved in the movie's release, in its significance to the movie tie-in is another. This simple transaction truly demonstrates how high Limp Bizkit had climbed in mainstream appeal (as well as how low Metallica had fallen since their early 90s peak).

This song was also the first single to appear from The Chocolate Starfish and The Hot Dog Flavoured Water, which would be the peak of the band’s career. With Take A Look Around, Limp Bizkit was climbing to the top, but they hadn’t reached it just yet.
