Metallica: 6 Reasons They're Undeniably Better Than Megadeth
2. More Success Across Multiple Fronts
As time has drawn on and both bands have aged and matured through their 30+ years together, they have both attempted to move their band and their brands beyond the normal mainstay of the world of rock 'n' roll or metal. In the 1990's, Dave Mustaine would remain sober and go on to work for MTV and the Choose Or Lose campaign that helped register younger voters across the country. Mustaine would certainly make the right choice, injecting himself into the younger mainstream musical movement in hopes that he could broaden Megadeth's appeal to newer listeners. The trick worked, and the album that followed Rust In Peace, 1992's Countdown To Extinction, would become the band's best-received to date. But for Metallica, they would move into their long-avoided foray of music videos in 1989, with the single One from ...And Justice For All. The decision to make a music video for MTV would forever change the band's destiny. With their next album all but taking over MTV, their career skyrocketed to heights never before seen for a heavy metal band. And upon becoming the world's premiere metal act and taking over rock radio worldwide, Metallica as a global brand was just getting started. In the years that followed, Metallica have expanded across multiple platforms, from winning their first Grammy for One, to taking on Napster and the online community, to most recently creating their own IMAX concert film. And let's not forget that their music fills stadiums and arenas across the country, and the world on a nightly basis, providing the soundtrack for local sports teams everywhere, including the globally successful and globally beloved NFL. Even Major League Baseball took part in the Metallica legend, with Yankee reliever and future Hall Of Fame closer Mariano Rivera using Enter Sandman as his theme song when arriving on the field to pitch for the Yankees. http://youtu.be/ttiQNplJ-ls
