Metallica's 11th Album: 10 Things Fans NEED To See
4. Resolving The Unforgiven Saga
The Unforgiven Series has been one of the many recurring themes in Metallica's tenure. Starting as a standout ballad from the band's Black Album, the song quickly began a longer journey, with two sequels being made on Reload and Death Magnetic respectively. Given the dour tones of each track, it's time to finally bring this story to a close.
The first installment was the real showstopper as it told the tale of a man going through horrible inner turmoil about not being able to connect with the world. The sequels both show a different side of the character, with part 2 showing him attempting to connect with someone else, while part 3 shows him meditating on why he blames others for the pain he's caused himself.
This final chapter in the man's journey would be a perfect way to close this new record, while also bringing back older sonic elements like the backwards horn or the repeated lines of "what i've felt, what i've known."
With the band making a sequel to the S&M concert, it may be a good idea to feature a full orchestra on a track once again. The ending of this tale is bound to be dark, but the temptation is too great to resist.
