MF DOOM Albums Ranked From Worst To Best
8. Take Me To Your Leader
MF DOOM's second studio album was released under the alias King Geedorah. Geedorah is a sci-fi dictator-like monster that is loosely based off of King Ghidorah, a three-headed monster that faces off against Godzilla in the Godzilla movies.
The album was produced by DOOM who manages to give every song a dramatic, sci-fi feeling. The character of King Geedorah is a powerful, almost unstoppable being , which is portrayed through lines like "Hear ye! Hear ye! How dare ye go up against a king who do his thing tri-yearly" from The Fine Print.
All in all, the album is a revolutionary project, being one of the earliest hip hop albums to dive hard into sci-fi themes, as well as having some of the most unique instrumentals ever made by DOOM (albeit slightly repetitive) but the album fails to live up to the others on this list for the simple fact that the character of King Geedorah had so much potential that DOOM really only scratches the surface of. There are references all throughout the album to this character but on most songs they get drowned out by the barrage of lyricism coming from DOOM. Take Me To Your Leader didn't do enough, lyrically speaking to stand apart from DOOM's other work, the beats do most of the heavy lifting in that regard.
