Misfits: Ranking All 7 Studio Albums From Worst To Best

1. Static Age (1997)*

If there is one Misfits album out there that tops 'Walk Among Us', it's the first the band ever actually recorded: 'Static Age'.

'Static Age' was originally recorded in 1978, just one year after the Misfits first formed. However, it was not given a complete standalone release until 1997 (although, it was released as a part of the Misfits box set one year earlier.)

Given how much of an undeniable masterpiece this album is, it's rather safe to say that it was worth the near-twenty-year wait.

The long and short of it is that, without exception, every single track on 'Static Age' is an absolute classic. 'Hybrid Moments', 'Last Caress', 'We Are 138', 'Teenagers From Mars', and 'She' are all seminal Misfits songs that still only barely scratch the surface of the seventeen-track tour de force.

What's more is that this album features the very best of Glenn Danzig's vocals, the distinct rockabilly-inspired horror punk instrumental sound the Misfits created, and the band's peerless mystique. The twenty-year waiting period also gave the band more than enough time to make sure everything about 'Static Age' was absolutely perfect.

In fact, between the debut of Michale Graves' 'American Psycho' this Danzig-era magnum opus finally seeing the light of day, 1997 is almost certainly the year Misfits releases peaked.
