http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BE1KRj5iiM Often confused for Verse Chorus Verse, another Nirvana track, in part because that was the track's original title, Sappy was a song that Rolling Stone has referred to as a "white whale" for Cobain, and with good reason: he recorded it multiple times over the course of his career, seemingly never happy with the result, yet according to bassist and founding Nirvana member Krist Novoselic, he had some sort of "unattainable expectations" for the tune. It was included as a hidden track on No Alternative, an AIDS Fundraiser album. The track appeared uncredited. You can hear what Cobain was striving to achieve with the song - he was on the cusp of a single with it, perhaps, but was as destined to fail as Ahab.
