8. Token Eastern Song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmFcXfRGYWI Token Eastern Song was long thought to be titled Junkyard (or Born in a Junkyard) due to a misinterpretation of what Kurt Cobain was singing during the chorus of the song. Long after the track had been floating around the bootleg community, former Nirvana drummer Chad Channing confirmed that the lyric was "Hold it in your gut" not "Born in a Junkyard" - yet despite its inclusion on With the Lights Out as Token Eastern Song (a play on Led Zepplin's Immigrant Song?), people continue to occasionally mislabel it. Adding to the confusion was the fact that Token Eastern Song was included on a potential tracklist for the never released Sub Pop followup to Bleach, which was tentatively titled Sheep. At the time, Junkyard had already been floating around, and it took some time for fans to figure out that the tracks were one and the same. The song was recorded twice - one with Channing on drums in 1989, which is the version you find on With the Lights Out. A later recording in 1991 happened to take place during Nirvana's first sessions with Dave Grohl - that version has never been released.
