7. Do Re Mi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuFf2Gp-lGk Do Re Mi is one of those "what if" tracks. Along with You Know You're Right (released on the band's self-titled greatest hits package), it represents the last work by Kurt Cobain. Recorded by Cobain as a demo, with just the singer and his acoustic guitar, it's likely that the lyrics are just scratch/temp lyrics meant to be filled in later, but the melody is there. This track was highly anticipated by Nirvana fans when its existence first came to light in 1994, and Cobain widow Courtney Love felt there was big money in the track, but really, it's far from finished, and just a tease of what might have been. Cobain's voice is still haunting on the track however. It wasn't released for a full decade after it's existence was first mentioned by Love, and is rumoured to have been destined for a compilation album released in conjunction with the band's expected 1994 Lollapalooza headlining appearance, which was later scrapped. An alternate title for the song, supposedly discovered scribbled on a napkin by Courtney Love, is Me and My IV. There is an edition recorded with Pat Smear and Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson supposedly out there still, but it has never seen the light of day.
