PJ Harvey - Ranking Her Albums From Worst To Best

4. Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU2NDAo69Nc Sometimes considered to be Harvey€™s magnum opus, Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea is a lyrical love letter to New York City, and won her first Mercury Prize (the second being Let England Shake). Her Poppiest, and perhaps most upbeat album, was tainted by disaster after having to accept her Mercury Prize over the phone, watching the Pentagon burn from her Washington D.C. hotel in the aftermath of 9/11. But even 14 years after its release, it€™s easy to see why this album gained so attention. After the experimental Is This Desire?, Stories' is refreshing and at times exceedingly beautiful, notably in the penultimate track €˜We Float€™, and €˜This Mess We€™re In€™, which she duets with Radiohead front man Thom Yorke. This album made an everlasting mark on pop music.
