PJ Harvey - Ranking Her Albums From Worst To Best

2. Let England Shake

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fws4fEE8Yy0 The year is 2011. The economy is terrible, conflict still rages in the Middle-East and Tony Blair appears in front of a court regarding his part in the invasion of Iraq. Let England Shake could not have dropped at a more appropriate time. Harvey€™s last full album oozes political undertones, making references to both Middle Eastern conflicts and World War One, as well as performances that had left Gordon Brown shifting uncomfortably in his chair. There are all sorts of influences pulled from her previous releases; the piano-based songs from White Chalk, her trademark howl found on Rid of Me, all tied up neatly in an almost musically perfect protest piece.
