4. The Bends (1995)
Creep announced Radiohead to the world but it was really The Bends that made everyone sit up and take notice of a brilliant new band. The Bends is only the second album by the band yet it is miles ahead of Pablo Honey. The Bends is just as heavy on guitar rock as Pablo Honey but it's done much more originally and successfully on The Bends. The guitars are much more varied with melancholic acoustic heavy numbers such as High and Dry and Fake Plastic Trees as well as more hard rocking songs like Just and Bones. The real standout on The Bends is definitely Street Spirit(Fade Out). Street Spirit established that Radiohead could not only write excellent hooks and melodies but also emotionally charged anthems about weighty subjects like death.
