Radiohead: Predicting Every Track On The New Album

12. Lift

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvqyAY-MEpU For many, many years, Lift felt like a distant, impossible dream. It's been kicking around since the band's 1996 tour in support of The Bends, possibly even earlier. Since then it's been sporadically played at gigs, most notably on their 2002 tour. Rumour has it that Yorke played Lift during a 2013 sound check with his side project supergroup Atoms for Peace but there's been no official word on that. Other than that there's been little news about Lift, until very recently. Guitarist Jonny Greenwood hinted in 2015 that Lift was coming back and may feature on the band's next album. Whether it will sound anything the version debuted in the '90s is unclear. The band's way of writing and structuring songs has changed almost entirely since then so it's possible we might hear a wholly different version of Lift on the new album. It seems as though band have made several attempts to get Lift *ahem* off the ground (sorry). Let us hope LP9 finally gives us a full version.
