A poignant album for many Who fans with it being the last to feature Moon, it's also surprisingly good despite a fairly poor reputation. Partially intended as a follow up to the failed Lifehouse project, 'Who Are You' sees a more electronic approach to the Who's music, as well as longer songs often hitting five minutes or more. The drumming is far less noticeable than previous albums as years of alcohol and drug abuse caught up on an unfit Moon, reducing him to nothing but a few cymbal crashes on 'Music Must Change'. Entwistle gets a more prominent songwriting role on this album, penning three of the songs. The best is probably 'Trick of the Light', a rather amusing tale of man facing inadequacy opposite a prostitute, the other two also being fairly enjoyable affairs. Most of Pete's efforts are fairly enjoyable listens, but distinctly average by his high standards except for the excellent 'Sister Disco.' The highlight of the album is undoubtedly the title song which is often viewed as one of The Who's finest efforts. The lyrics, telling the tale of one of Pete's drunken nights, coupled with some of Keith's best drumming and some fantastic, growling vocals from Daltrey make it one of their most beloved songs. It's not hard sot see why. Best Song: 'Who Are You'- Probably the last great Who song.
