Ranking Every Metallica Album From Worst To Best
1. The Black Album (1991)
Best Tracks: Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, Nothing Else Matters
Worst Track: Of Wolf and Man
Metallica's self-titled album marked a major departure from everything that came prior, and paved the way for the divisive Load/Reload years.
It is a perfect compromise between old and new, resulting in classic after classic that is by far their most consistently brilliant album to date.
Even the more familiar tracks (Of Wolf and Man, Through the Never) are still cracking, headbanging tunes, and while it tapers off ever so slightly as it nears its end, it manages to conclude with a strong showing in The Struggle Within.
It remains the high mark by which all their future work will be judged.
What an album.
