Ranking Every Slipknot Album From Worst To Best

3. Slipknot (1999)

The self-titled Slipknot album started things according to the band after MFKR was demoted to a mere demo tape - enter the age of Corey ‘The Great Big Mouth’ Taylor. The entry consisted of the line up we all know and love along with masks, boilersuits, beer kegs and baseball bats... the list goes on.

The record is energetic, chaotic and absolutely brutal to listen to, acting as a full on attack of all that is sensory. The self-titled album encapsulates exactly what the band stands for, no nonsense, no compromise and no let up.

Slipknot has a very raw feel to it and was clearly created to shock and awe. Filled with controversy, dark lyrics and mind-bending guitar licks, the album was made as a statement to music. No one ever thought this year-long halloween act would succeed, but they ended up creating a musical masterpiece that will stand the test of time.

The list of ear piercing songs include many of the band’s live show staples like the unmistakable Surfacing, Jungle-infused Eyeless and the crowd favourite Spit It Out. Beneath the list of instantly recognisable songs are some true hidden gems in the shape of the re-recorded Only One of MFKR fame, and the blisteringly blunt and savage Eeyore, which introduced Corey Taylor and the zero-bulls**t band behind him.

This record left the music industry wondering what the hell just hit it.
