Red Hot Chili Peppers: Every Unlimited Love Song Ranked Worst To Best

12. The Great Apes

The initial listen to this record will leaving you thinking Great Apes is one of the strongest numbers on the album, and some will no doubt question it's positioning on this list. But hear me out. Although this track has its merits, it does feel a little derivative of previous Chilis numbers.

Frusciante certainly exhibits some of his most sort after guitar sounds on this tracks. There are sections that harken back to the ominous themes on Californication (1999); the more tender moments on By The Way (2002); and he throws in a hard rocking solo, inline with his signature sound during the Stadium Arcadium era (2006).

For all that, this is one of the more surface level rock numbers on the album.
