Red Hot Chili Peppers: Every Unlimited Love Song Ranked Worst To Best

11. The Heavy Wing

The Heavy Wing is aptly named. It contains the fattest guitar tone on the album, with a chorus featuring lead vocals from Fruciante, and a distorted chord progression that oozes early '90s alternative rock.

Indicative of so many tracks on this album, The Heavy Wing evolves into something quite unexpected. Unassuming chords, listlessly floating across the mix, are soon replaced with heavily distorted power chords.

It's also the track most reminiscent of the band's previous record, The Getaway (2016). Frusciante certainly utilises techniques used by Josh Klinghoffer. Interesting, considering Klinghoffer's style was originally informed by Frusciante, but it seems for this track, the teacher becomes the pupil.
