Sid Vicious: 5 Reasons For Enduring Legacy 34 Years After His Death

1. 'My Way'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIXg9KUiy00 Filmed as part of the hideous mess known as The Great Rock and Roll Swindle, Sid Vicious' performance of the classic Frank Sinatra track 'My Way' is the defining moment of his very short life. Every line and every word not only sums up the punk ethos it's as if the song was written for Sid himself. From the very off Sid struts onto the stage in front of an audience made up of society's 'hoi polloi'. They applaud him as if he's something to revel at but are then quickly dispatched by the gun toting former bass player. As the audience lay dying he storms off, sticking two fingers up to the camera. Those final moments as he walks up the staircase might as well have been his last on the Earth - the whole song and video one great big eulogy to the crown prince of punk rock.
