Slipknot: 10 Hidden Song Details You Totally Missed

6. Eyeless - Ross Robinson’s Sense Of Humour

Producer Ross Robinson has a long history of getting some really amazing music out of troubled artists, in particular KoЯn, Slipknot, and Soulfly. His controversial style went a long way to establishing nu-metal as a viable genre, but whether this was in the long term mental heath interests of said bands is another matter.

In a foreshadowing of what would be taken to the next level on Iowa, the producer would encourage Corey Taylor to bare his sole on Eyeless, a track which the singer would cite as particularly relevant to the relationship (or lack of) between him and his father.

This can be heard in the song itself, as Taylor retches due to the sheer vocal energy exerted and Robinson can be heard giggling at the situation.

Robinson’s unique motivational techniques were noted by other members of the band, Joey Jordison recalls having plant pots thrown at him whilst drumming tracks, and there are reports of him body slamming guitarists whilst they attempted to record.
