Slipknot Albums Ranked From Worst To Best

5. All Hope is Gone

By 2008, no other metal act had had a consistent run as great as Slipknot. Given their tendency to not go with the flow, their first handful of releases have held up not only as the greatest metal of the modern age, but also some of the most brutal music ever put to tape. However, no one can keep that same kind of fire burning forever.

Even though that sounds like a slam, there is still plenty of songs to enjoy on All Hope Is Gone. Stuff like Gematria and Psychosocial are still some amazing anthems for these guys, as well as having some of the most delicate ballads they have ever made like Snuff. On the other hand, this is by far the most fractured release of their career, with songs almost feeling schizophrenic as they go from one style to the next.

It probably didn't help matters that this was one of the hardest albums for the band to record, as they have spoken at length about the struggles they had when trying to get on the same page. Despite all of the tension surrounding All Hope is Gone, that didn't stop it from being the first album by the 9 to actually hit #1 on the Billboard Charts. While the slower songs and high chart position might qualify this to be Slipknot's "sellout" album, don't let that dissuade you from the firm ass-kicking you'll get from these tracks.

Best Tracks: Sulfur, Gematria, Psychosocial
