Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind: Every Song Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Solway Firth

We Are Not Your Kind comes full circle with "Solway Firth." Here, in the introduction, Taylor returns to the "I'm counting all the killers" refrain from "Insert Coin," carrying a quiet, unsettling opening passage primed to erupt into a storm of riffs, scratches, and rage.

This is Slipknot at their most defiant. It's a raised middle finger, a haymaker to the jaw, and a heavy, heavy "f*ck you" at the end of a gruelling but rewarding journey. Congratulations, you've made it through WANYK: how'd you like your skull caved in?

"Solway Firth" careens along on awesome momentum, with every band member absolutely firing. It's muscular, dynamic, and alive, and little touches like the synth notes creeping out from beneath the second verse riff take it to the next level. The hook, too, is catchy without being too clean, sacrificing none of its arena-fulfilling potential in its quest for confrontation.

That Corey Taylor saves his finest, angriest vocal performance for last is fitting. The beast is back, revitalised and ready to conquer all. Jump aboard the bandwagon or get run over.
