Slipknot - We Are Not Your Kind: Every Song Ranked From Worst To Best

7. Nero Forte

"Nero Forte's" chorus is its most startling element, and what a chorus it is. Combining a sugary-sweet refrain unlike anything the band have ever attempted before with Taylor's trademark half-rapped, half-growled snarl, it is simultaneously, beautiful and ugly, syrupy and sour, blissful and brutal.

Reducing "Nero Forte" to its biggest hook does it a great disservice, though. An opening riff not dissimilar to Mastodon's Circle of Cysquatch claws itself towards a crushing rhythm powered by the unstoppable Weinberg. Taylor is as locked in as any instrumental element as "Nero Forte" crushes all in its path with pure, rawboned muscle, and again, like many of WANYK's earlier tracks, the bridge stomps. The backdrop is almost militaristic as Corey puts the world on blast accompanied by the rest of the band's gang vocals, so you're going to want to have your fists in the air when Slipknot play this one live.
