Sonisphere 2014: 10 Reasons It's Going To Be Festival Of The Year
3. There's Something For Everyone
Sonisphere's line-up is diverse. Of course there's a focus on abrasive acts, but in the past the festival has taken more risks than Download, Reading and Leeds put together. In fact, this risk-taking was so prominent that it caused their 2012 event to be cancelled (see next entry). But through failure, their resolve has to be admired and after taking a year out in 2013, the festival is back with arguably their strongest and most diverse line-up yet. Acts on this year's bill polarise between blisteringly heavy and blissfully tender. There are serious bands like Deftones and Alice In Chains, but there's also a hearty dose of novelty with the inclusion of nu-metal posterboys Limp Bizkit and a blend of the maniacally-brilliant with The Devin Townsend Project. There's bands which are known for sprawling epics like Mastodon and then there's those who deal in juggernaut-resilience to one genre like Airbourne, Anthrax or Slayer. Basically, there really is something for everyone, and even if you're not into the music, there's always the beer.
