Sonisphere 2014 Review: 8 Best Performances At Knebworth

7. Chas & Dave

https://twitter.com/ITitchener/status/485909145791787008 When the line-up first put the Cockney comic twosome on the same bill as Metallica and Iron Maiden, it felt like the organisers were offering a cheeky middle finger to Download and their inclusion of the equally sneered at Status Quo. And the twosome didn't disappoint in cutting a completely different impact to everything else that came around them, but not in a bad way by any means. Their songs are instantly infectious, their enthusiasm likewise, and regardless of the cynicism that might have met their announcement, the crowd were eating up even the more obscure songs, having responded to the likes of €œRabbit€ and €œSnooker Loopy€ with familiar gusto. Yes, they are of a very specific time, and they could probably €“ unfairly €“ be classed as a chintzy cheese, but in a festival that celebrated 40 years of live music at the venue, as well as 30 plus years of Metallica and the end of Iron Maiden's mammoth Maiden England tour, looking backwards wasn't at all a bad thing.
