Sonisphere 2014 Review: 8 Best Performances At Knebworth

1. Metallica

https://twitter.com/BABYMETAL_JAPAN/status/485926525402095616 The problem with the biggest metal band in the world offering to do a Request Only live gig at a festival as varied as Sonisphere is that they'd never have been able to please everyone. While die-hard Metallica fans wanted to hear the rarities we were all promised when the tour was first announced, somewhat inevitably, the festival crowd made sure that the set-list felt more like a Greatest Hits tour, with €œWhiskey In The Jar€ thrown in. But then, this is Metallica, and that really didn't matter in the end. The band offered the perfect crowning moment to the entire festival, just a week after feeding the Glastonbury complainers their own complaints and though it felt like a missed opportunity not to hear some more rare tracks, the quality and bredth of Metallica's catalogue is such that the band could play for 4 hours, and someone would immediately accuse them of missing out their favourite song. They're scene stealers in every sense of the word, and even with the ghost of those rarities hanging over the set, the opportunity to see €œCreeping Death,€ €œSeek And Destroy€ and €œMaster Of Puppets€ again should never be sniffed at when it's Hetfield, Ulrich, Hammett and Trujillo playing them. Which Sonisphere festival performances do you think should have made this list of the best? Share your choices below in the comments section.
