The Beatles: All US Number Ones Ranked Worst To Best

10. Can't Buy Me Love

3rd Number One, 1964 - Written by Paul McCartney

When The Beatles broke out in America, they went for broke indeed. They became the first artists to replace themselves at the top of the Hot 100, and they did it twice over - I Want to Hold Your Hand was succeeded by She Loves You, which was in turn succeeded by Can't Buy Me Love. When the latter hit the peak position, the entire top five was comprised of Beatles songs. It also registered the biggest jump to number one at the time, from number 27.

All stats and records aside, Can't Buy Me Love is an absolute monster of a song, and the last essential part in the smashing trifecta that introduced The Beatles to the US. It starts with that blasting hook and doesn't ever lose steam throughout.

Fun Fact: The song has long been rumoured to be about a prostitute. It is not.
