The Secret Genius Behind Your Favourite Songs
8. He Pulled Aerosmith Out Of The Doledrums
On the other side of the rock spectrum, Aerosmith were in the middle of a resurgence in the late 80's. After a lackluster album release after their reformation, the band hit the big time yet again by working with hip hop stars Run-DMC on a remake of their classic hit "Walk This Way."
All they needed now was a hit of their own to bring them to the top. Once Child was brought on board, the stalling sessions for the band's new album were revitalized. In particular, Steven Tyler was having trouble with starting a song idea with Joe Perry. With Child setting the baseline, the now songwriting trio came up with the basis of hits like "Angel" and "Dude Looks Like a Lady."
The relationship with the Bad Boys From Boston went so well that Child even assisted them during their 90's peak on the song "Crazy," which turned into one of the highlights from the band's Get A Grip album. After the initial success with Bon Jovi, Child had earned his stripes as a quality songwriter who could revive even the old guard of rock music. Now that he had conquered hair metal, it was time to explore other branches of the rock sphere.
