7. He Brought Joan Jett Back To Prominence
By the time Child had come up the ranks, Joan Jett was already rock royalty. After forming the all-girl punk outfit the Runaways, Jett struck out on her own with fantastic tracks from "I Love Rock n Roll" to "Bad Reputation." However, the success seemed to be drying up for Jett as she hit the mid-80's.
Needing a fresh pair of ears, Jett enlisted Child for her next album Up Your Alley, where he would serve as both a producer and songwriting partner. Wanting to find the right rock swagger to put with Jett's look, Child came up with this undeniable stomping rhythm that had the capacity to fill stadiums. With the hook firmly in place, Jett and Child set about writing the lyrics to what would become Jett's return to rock prominence. The result was "I Hate Myself For Loving You," whose relentless beat can still be heard in sports arena around the world.
