Mike Hadreas began writing music after moving from New York to Everett, Washington to live with his mother. In its relative isolation Hadreas found inspiration and soon after recording and
Perfume Genius was born. This year saw him release his sophomore effort, and outrageously it went under the radar of most. I say that because the fragile piano lead ballads contained within its runtime are so touchingly beautiful and honest that they resulted in this being one of the most played albums of the year by me, and I quite happily keep listening. A haunting live performer too.
