Tool: 10 Albums We Waited For Longer Than The New Album
5. Faith No More - Sol Invictus (~18 Years)
One of the most unique and influential bands of the 90s, Faith No More were on a near-untouchable run of albums before their breakup in 1998. Their 1989 release The Real Thing (their first with Mike Patton) kickstarted things, predominantly thanks to the inclusion of the legendary track "Epic" and carried on to 1995's King for a Day....
A year after 1997's divisive Album of the Year though, FNM were gone.
The break proved fruitful for the lads. Patton in particular, went on to work with Fantômas, Tomahawk, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and provided voice acting for various video games including the Left 4 Dead and The Darkness franchises.
After months of speculation, Faith No More returned for a series of worldwide live dates in 2009. Ever the teases, the next four years consisted of lives dates with "mystery songs", coupled with mini-breaks to satisfy the members' side projects.
Eventually in 2014, the band Tweeted that "the reunion thing was fun, but now it's time to get a little creative", confirming a new album was in the works. A year later and Sol Invictus was unleashed onto the world, earning it universal praise.
Pretty impressive when the lead single is called "Motherf*cker".
