3. Michael Jackson She's Out Of My Life
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DQJPL9Yuq0 Although it's true that Jackson wrote and performed some phenomenal melodies in his time, it was his cover of this song by Tom Bahler which pushed sales of his solo album 'Off The Wall' even higher, providing a much needed thought provoking ballad on an album of rhythm inspired disco grooves. At 66 beats per minute the vocals were the slowest Jackson had ever recorded, and some critics cite it as his best work. The song was originally believed to have been written about the late Karen Carpenter, with whom Bahler had been romantic shortly before her death, but it was later revealed to have been written about another former girlfriend. Producer Quincy Jones who recorded the song with Jackson said that he broke down in tears at the end of every recording, despite attempting emotional restraint and re-recording it some 11 times. Jackson spoke about the recording of the album a decade or so later and said that it was one of the most difficult periods of his life. It's really self explanatory why this song should be avoided and provides a double edged sword either indicating that your relationship might soon be coming to an end or that your beloved is actually a silver medal in comparison to the "one that got away" (you might also want to avoid Katy Perry for the same reason come to think of it!).
