4. Pet Shop Boys - What Have I Done To Deserve This
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn9E5i7l-Eg This is first and foremost a great song. It's also a great duet featuring the late Dusty Springfield in a role which brought her music to the attention of a generation which had all but forgotten about her existence when the single was released in 1987. Springfield's trademark sound and iconic look gave rise to some of the most memorable love songs in existence, 'You Don't Have to Say You Love Me' and 'I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself' being just two examples. In 2007 at the Brit Awards it was Lady Gaga who stood in for the singer providing vocals on a performance of this track to celebrate a lifetime achievement award. But it was this collaboration with the Pet Shop Boys which provided the backdrop for heartache, rejection and unrequited love. We're not sure just what they did to deserve this, but it remains solid advice that this song should definitely not be added to any romantic playlist on Feb 14th, especially if the object of your affection is likely to be highly suspicious and wonder whether you're asking a rhetorical question based around your own relationship. Think about it.
